01/Overview
Roofline & gutters

The roofline is the roof's frame.

Fascia, soffit and guttering protect the timber at eaves level, keep the property watertight from above, and finish the roof visually. When they fail, water gets behind the covering and rot starts in the rafter ends. We renew rooflines with proper detailing, matched profiles and gutter falls set to carry water cleanly off the elevation.

09/FAQs
FAQs

Roofline & gutters, common questions.

Do you replace all my guttering?

Yes. Clarkson Roofing replaces full gutter runs, downpipes and hoppers across Milton Keynes, Newport Pagnell and the surrounding counties. We strip the old system, renew the fascia and soffit where needed, then hang the new guttering to the correct fall so water is carried cleanly off the roof. Request a free roof survey.

Can I add hoppers or rainwater diverters?

Yes. Cast-iron effect hoppers, aluminium hoppers and rainwater diverters for water butts or soakaways can be specified as part of a renewal. We size the hopper for the roof pitch and rainfall load so it deals with heavy storm water without overflowing.

What fascia colours do you offer?

Standard uPVC roofline is available in six stock colours: white, black, anthracite grey, rosewood, golden oak and cream. Aluminium and cast-iron effect systems can be specified in bespoke RAL colours to match doors, windows or heritage detailing.

How long does renewal take?

A typical semi-detached full roofline renewal, including fascia, soffit and guttering, takes 2 to 4 working days. Larger detached properties with multiple elevations and hoppers usually take 4 to 6 working days. We give a realistic date range in the written quote and stick to it.

Do you install cast-iron effect?

Yes. We install cast-iron effect aluminium and heavy-look uPVC systems for period properties, cottages and listed buildings where original ogee or half-round profiles are needed. The finish reads as cast iron from the ground but is lighter and does not corrode.

Are your gutters seamless?

Aluminium guttering is formed on site as a seamless run to the exact length of the elevation, with no visible joints along the length. uPVC and cast-iron effect systems use engineered joints with EPDM gaskets, positioned discreetly and sealed to last.

Can you match existing colour?

Yes. For repairs and partial replacements we match existing colour wherever possible. For full renewals we can match doors, windows or a neighbouring property. Anthracite, black and heritage cream are the most requested finishes in the region.

Do you fit soakaway or water butt kits?

Yes. As part of a roofline renewal we can fit rainwater diverters into downpipes to feed a water butt, or direct downpipes into a soakaway. We size the outlet for the roof area so the system copes with heavy rainfall.

How often should gutters be cleaned?

Once a year is a sensible baseline for most properties. Twice a year is worth it for properties near mature trees or where moss shed from the roof accumulates in autumn. Clean gutters are the single biggest thing you can do to protect fascia and soffit timber.

Are you fully insured?

Yes. Clarkson Roofing is fully insured. Materials carry the manufacturer warranty on top, typically 20 to 25 years on roofline components.
