Your data, your rights

This policy explains what personal information Clarkson Roofing collects, why we collect it, how we look after it, and the rights you have over it. We have written it in plain English, without the legal fog.

02 What information we collect

We only collect what we need to answer your enquiry and carry out roofing work. Depending on how you get in touch, this may include:

Information you give us

  • Your name, email address, phone number and postcode or property address.
  • Any details about your roof or the work you need, including photographs you choose to upload.
  • Messages you send us through our contact forms, our chat assistant, email, phone or WhatsApp.

Information we collect automatically

  • Basic technical data such as your device type, browser, approximate location and the pages you view, collected through cookies and analytics.
  • How you found us and interacted with the site, so we can understand what is working and improve it.

We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and we never ask for sensitive information such as financial account details through our website forms.

03 How we use your information

We use your personal information to:

  • Respond to your enquiry and arrange a free survey.
  • Prepare and send you a written, fixed-price quote.
  • Carry out the work you ask us to do and keep you updated on it.
  • Keep records of the work we have done, for warranty, insurance and safety purposes.
  • Improve our website, our service and the way we advertise.
  • Send you occasional updates or our newsletter, but only if you have asked us to.

05 Advertising and analytics

We use Google services to run and measure our advertising and to understand how our website is used. These include Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and Google Ads. They set cookies and collect usage data to help us see which adverts and pages lead to enquiries.

When you submit an enquiry or call us from an advert, we may share a securely hashed (scrambled) version of your email address or phone number with Google to confirm that a genuine enquiry took place. This is known as Enhanced Conversions. Google cannot read the original details from the hashed version, and we never share the content of your message for advertising.

Advertising and analytics cookies only run if you allow them. You can change your choices at any time using the cookie preferences link, or through your browser settings.

06 Who we share your information with

We do not sell your personal data, ever. We share it only with trusted providers who help us run the business, and only so far as they need it to do their job. These include:

  • Our website and form hosting providers, who process enquiries submitted through the site.
  • The secure database we use to manage enquiries and quotes.
  • Google, for analytics and advertising as described above.
  • Professional advisers, insurers or authorities where we are legally required to share information.

Some of these providers may store data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on safeguards approved under UK data protection law to keep your information protected.

07 How long we keep it

We keep enquiry details only for as long as we need them. If your enquiry does not lead to work, we typically hold it for up to 24 months in case you get back in touch. Where we complete work for you, we keep the relevant records for longer to support warranties, insurance and our legal obligations. After that, we securely delete or anonymise your information.

08 Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct anything that is wrong or incomplete.
  • Ask us to delete your data, where there is no reason for us to keep it.
  • Ask us to restrict or object to how we use it.
  • Ask us to transfer your data to you or another provider.
  • Withdraw your consent at any time, where we relied on it.

To exercise any of these, just email info@clarksonroofing.co.uk and we will respond within one month. It will not cost you anything.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, though we would always prefer the chance to put things right first.

09 Cookies

Cookies are small files stored on your device that help the site work and help us understand how it is used. We group them into essential cookies, which are always on, and analytics and marketing cookies, which only run with your permission. You can accept, decline or fine-tune these at any time through our cookie preferences.

10 Keeping your data secure

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including secure hosting, encrypted connections and limiting access to the people who need it. No system is ever completely risk-free, but we work to keep your data safe and to act quickly if anything ever goes wrong.

11 Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time as our services or the law change. When we do, we will update the date at the top of the page. Please check back occasionally so you are aware of any changes.
