Lead Roofer
For roofers ten years in and ready to run a job start to finish. Read the roof, set out the crew, own the finish.
Register interestClarkson Roofing has been on Buckinghamshire rooftops since 1985. Two generations of the same family, a crew of six, and the same yard on The Grove. Whether you are ten years in and ready to lead, halfway through your Level 2, or you have never touched a roof but want to learn a real trade, this page is for you.
On the tools
Family-run means family-run. The founder still runs the crew brief every Monday, and everyone on site knows the name over the door. There is no anonymous middle layer, no chasing a stranger for a straight answer.
We put people through the tickets that matter. NVQ, CSCS, IPAF, first aid and working at heights are all paid for, and time on the course is time on the clock. Two of our apprentices are now Lead Roofers. Progression happens because you are ready, not because a calendar says so.
Most of all, we do quality work and take pride in the finish. Flashings, verges, ridges and valleys, the details are where a roof lives, and that is the standard you would be joining.
Every roofer wants to know two things before they take a job. What are the hours, and what are the days actually like. Here is one of ours, mid-week during a semi re-roof in Milton Keynes. Nothing dressed up, nothing hidden.
Kit loaded, van rota check, brew. No time-clock nonsense.
Client meet, scaffold walk, safety brief, first tile off.
Fifteen minutes off the roof, biscuits provided.
Forty-five minutes, van and yard both fine.
Ten minutes, second sitrep to the office.
Kit off, sitrep, home. Weekends off unless it is a genuine emergency.
Perks come standard, not as an incentive scheme. If you are on the crew, you get all of these. Full stop.
Full PPE, tool bag and workwear from day one. Boots and helmet replaced yearly.
NVQ, CSCS, IPAF, first aid, working at heights. All fees, all time, all covered.
Six-day weeks only during storm season, with time-and-a-half. Otherwise you are home Friday.
20 days plus 8 bank holidays. Bookable a week at a time, no need to justify.
Auto-enrolled with 5% employer contribution. Fair, and never conditional.
Paid on the 25th of every month. No held wages, no funny weeks, no clawbacks.

We would rather teach a willing beginner than carry a reluctant expert. If most of this sounds like you, we should talk.
We are a small crew, so roles do not open often. When they do, these are the seats we fill. Send a note and we will keep you in mind first.

Register interestHalfway through your Level 2, or starting from scratch. We pay for the training and teach the trade properly.
Register interestNever touched a roof but want to learn a real trade. Start in the yard and work up to the tools.
Register interestWe do not run assessment centres or four-round interviews. Four steps, both sides honest, no games.
A paragraph on your experience and any tickets you hold. No forms, no assessment centres.
If it looks like a fit, we sit down, walk you through what we do and answer everything.
If both sides want to go further, you spend a paid day on site before either party commits.
Everything is confidential. If you are in a job elsewhere, we will never contact your current employer.
The local trade is small, and we know how much trust that costs to break. Email info@clarksonroofing.co.uk or call 07497 711223 and ask for the yard. We handle every application in-house.
Send your CV or a paragraph about what you are looking for and we will keep it on file. When something comes up that fits, you will hear from us first.
